Every weekend Home Depot offers free DIY classes for a variety of projects like painting, hanging window treatments, installing closet organizers, bathroom updates, garage enhancements, planting, etc. etc etc. I'm sure you get the idea.

Stores like AC Moore, Joan's Fabric and Michaels all offer classes. Some classes are free and some may have a fee.
