The Gift that Keeps On Giving
Not only are these services affordable but it is a service that can be delivered to any location in the world. Who is this gift perfect for: This is a great gift for a new home owner or even a new renter. It's for your wife who has always wanted to update the look of your guest room or kitchen. It's for your husband who wants a more functional man cave. It's for your child who is moving out of the kid stage and into the pre-teen stage. It is for your grandmother who is downsizing her home into something more suitable. Everyone can use an updated look in their home.

I Am Hiring An Interior Designer Because.....
I am hiring an interior designer because it will save me money.
You better believe it will. Interior designers will be able to save you money and will make sure that they are sticking to your budget. Designers also have burying privledges that others don't have. That designer sofa you love can come at a lower price. Don't look at hiring a designer as a service you will have to pay for but look at it as an investment that will bring value to your property.
I want to hire an interior designer because I don't have the time to decorate.
Time is of the essence, especially when your schedule is packed to capacity. Taking on a decorating project is a full time job. A designer will be able to hire your contractors, project manage, arrange deliveries, maintain the budgets, do the shopping and much more while you continue to take care of your daily tasks.
I want to hire an interior designer because I don't know what to do.
No worries. Most designers are trained and have the expertise of knowing what to do first when starting the project, how to handle the hiccups that occur during the project and how to interpret your vision and make it a reality. A professional interior designer will also have access to designer showrooms. Allowing someone who has personal style and an eye for design can only enhance your homes beauty and make it fit your character and personality.
I want to hire an interior designer because my better half and I can't agree in what to do with our home design.
It is possible to mix two totally different design styles. Even if one likes modern and the other likes country. Find out what a designer can offer you through a consultation and other services.
It can be nerve wrecking to hire a designer and you want to choose the right one. Check out Houzz many designers in your local area probably have a profile, portfolio and ratings.
Good luck!
Happy New Year!!

Designs of Atlanta
I just got back from my 2 week trip in Atlanta. Atlanta is a designers best friend. It has so much to offer. There are massive amounts of resources in Georgia for furniture, flooring, fabrics, art, lighting, and so much more. If your into design then Atlanta is definitely a place you need to visit!
You can't go to Atlanta without checking out Atlanta's Design Art Center. Even if your not a designer the design centers in every state are great to visit for inspiration for your own space.
I went to the Articulate Event at the ADAC. The Articulate Event was a showcase for new an upcoming artist to display their talent. Absolutely Fabulous!

My favorite store Z Gallerie is in Atlanta so you know I had to stop in to the Z Gallerie in Atlantic Station! Why isn't the Z Gallerie up north??? That really hurts my heart.
Go visit Atlanta and share some of your photos with me.

The African American Top 20 Interior Designers: Day 2 A Designer's View
Panel Discussion at the Atlanta Design A Center
Toasting to Michel Boyd. Happy Birthday Michel!!!
Kimberly Ward started the "African Amercan Top 20 Interior Designers" a few years ago. I first noticed her blog about 2 years ago after following her on twitter. Once I saw it, I fell in love with it. Check it out for yourself. www.pinkeggshell.com
On May 9th, Michel Boyd, Ron Woodson, Joy Moyler, Alicia Lamar and Lisa Turner led the discussion on the business of interior design. They discussed social media, building your brand, client/designer relationships and project management.
Some of the tips I learned were:
-Aim for your target market from the get go.
-Invest in a great portfolio.
-Know your legal mumbo jumbo with commercial real estate
-Have a good business system.
- Interior Design is 90% project management and 10% creativity
-travel is inspiration
-Great social sites: Twitter and Houzz
A few great quotes:
Even on my worst days I would not trade this profession. Alicia Lamar
Losers wait for perfection, winners go with what they have. Michel Boyd
I've had to fire clients because there was no connection. Ron Woodson
Not only did I get to hear these awsome designers speak but I also got to meet many others.
Later that night.....
Kimberly Ward hosted the Blogger Party at Michel Boyd's Loft. Simply Amazing!
The infamous Top 20!
